My work reflects the ongoing synthesis of my Eastern European roots and interests in Zen Buddhist philosophy. I have long been fascinated with the artistic and philosophical traditions of the Orient which led to an extended artistic residency of two and a half years in Japan. The most important insight for me, during this sojourn in the Orient, was that the traditional philosophical approach to the creative process was not about creating a 'picture' or image of something, but that it was in itself a refined form of meditation.
